počitek po delu kot blažilec negativnih učinkov?

Abstract

Secondary abstract: In the last 40 years, the content of work in Western societies has shifted from an ideal-type work process with a routine to a bureaucratically organised industrial work process. Nowadays, workplace flexibility is the main part of the work process. Employees are expected to set their own work schedule (flexitime), the location of the work (flexiplace) and decide which communication channel they will use (teleworking). To discover a connection between the variables of the contemporary work environment, recovery after work and workplace health, we developed and validated a questionnaire for the assessment of a contemporary work environment. The aim of the study was to examine whether recovery after work plays a mediation role in the relationship between the contemporary work environment and the workplace health of employees. Using the sample of the Slovenian police (N = 178) we found that recovery after work acts as a buffer against different characteristics of contemporary work environments. These characteristics are known for its negative effects on employee health. We proposed a few interventions in terms of workplace health promotion (at the level of the organisation) and outlined an example of a good practice - an adequate legislative regulation of this field (at the national level).
