Abstract

Že v času renesanse so mnogi filozofi razpravljali o etičnih teorijah o uporabi živali v poskusih. Najbolj odmevna sta bila Peter Singer s svojo utilitaristično teorijo in Tom Regan s svojo deontološko teorijo. Ti etični teoriji spadata na področje praktične etike.

Secondary title: LEGAL PROTECTION OF EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND IN SLOVENIA
Secondary abstract: Directive 2010/63/EU, which repealed Directive 68/609/EEC, has led to changes in the Slovenian legal order. Revision of Directive 68/609/EEC has provided a better protection of experimental animals with improving animal welfare, strict adherence to the 3Rs principles (replacement, reduction, refinement), the development of alternative methods and processes for ethical review of animal experiments. Alternative methods, due to modern technology, have developed very quickly and by inference the use of experimental animals reduces from year to year. In the Renaissance many philosophers already discussed about ethical theories regarding the use of experimental animals. Most notable were Peter Singer with his utilitarianism and Tom Regan with his deontological theory. These ethical theories fall within the scope of practical ethics.
