Abstract

V diplomski nalogi smo predstavili grafično oblikovanje oziroma razvoj tega poklica skozi čas. Grafično oblikovanje se je prilagodilo spremembam z uvedbo novih tehnologij in komuniciranjem s še bolj raznolikim občinstvom. Tako se je v okviru tega področja pojavilo veliko vprašanj (Ambrose in Harris 2008, 22): Kam je ta proces razvoja pripeljal grafično oblikovanje do danes? Kakšna je vrednost modernega grafičnega oblikovanja? Kakšen je glavni namen grafičnega oblikovanja? Grafično oblikovanje je podvrženo razvijajočim intelektualnim in estetskim trendom, ki vplivajo na delo oblikovalcev in odražajo stališča družbe na splošno. V uvodu so, za lažjo predstavo o tem področju dela, razčlenjeni pojmi kot sta grafično oblikovanje in grafični oblikovalec. Poklic grafičnega oblikovalca smo predstavili tudi s poklici, ki so povezani z njim ter različnimi specializacijami znotraj tega poklica, saj se je s časom ta pojem precej razširil. Raziskali smo zgodovino in razvoj poklica na splošno, trenutno situacijo in izobraževanje za poklic grafičnega oblikovalca. Izpostavili smo tudi splošne težave, ovire in prednosti tega poklica. Razčlenili smo proces dela grafičnega oblikovalca. S pomočjo člankov in mnenj strokovnjakov s področja grafičnega oblikovanja smo predstavili prihodnost poklica ter spremembe na tem trgu dela. Bolj podrobno smo raziskali poklic grafičnega oblikovalca v Sloveniji. Predstavili smo zgodovino, razvoj, trenutno situacijo grafičnega oblikovanja pri nas in možnosti šolanja za ta poklic v Sloveniji. Poudarili smo pomembnejše težave s katerimi se soočajo grafični oblikovalci pri nas, predvsem zaradi nizkega vrednotenja te storitve. Poskušali smo definirati kako bo grafično oblikovanje pri nas napredovalo in se razvijalo v prihodnosti. Večino podatkov in gradiva za to poglavje smo pridobili od samih grafičnih oblikovalcev in raznih oblikovalskih društev, ki so se v zadnjih letih zelo trudila približati to področje celotnemu prebivalstvu in izobraževati splošno javnost. V raziskovalnem delu smo naredili pregled stanja poklica grafičnega oblikovalca v Sloveniji. Opravili smo pregled ponudbe studiev za grafično oblikovanje in oglaševanje na našem trgu. Predstavili smo študentsko delo na področju grafičnega oblikovanja in pregled samostojnih grafičnih oblikovalcev. Anketirali smo tako mlajše kot starejše generacije grafičnih oblikovalcev v Sloveniji. Anketa je zajemala vprašanja o dosedanjem delu, izkušnjah, mnenju o nivoju in priznanosti tega poklica pri nas in v tujini, o izobraževanju in prihodnosti poklica. Glede na sedanji razvoj smo poskušali določiti kako daleč in v kakšno smer se bo poklic grafičnega oblikovalca razvil.

Secondary title: The development of graphic design as a profession
Secondary abstract: The thesis presents the profession of a graphic designer and the development of this profession through time. Graphic design has developed and adjusted to changes with the use of new technologies and adapted to communication with even more segmented audiences. With this, questions have been raised regarding this field of work (Ambrose and Harris 2008, 22): Where has the development brought graphic design? What is the value of the contemporary graphic design? What is the main purpose of the graphic design? Graphic design is under the influence of various developing intellectual and aesthetical trends, which affect the work of graphic designers and reflect the views of society in general. The introduction explains concepts like graphic design and graphic designer. The profession of graphic designer is also presented in relation to other specializations within the profession. Furthermore, the history and the development of the profession are presented, the current situation in which graphic designers find themselves and the education needed to become the graphic designer. Common problems, obstacles and advantages of this profession are also highlighted. The thesis also includes the analysis of graphic designer’s workflow and the prediction of how will the profession change in the future, based of various articles and opinions of foreign graphic designers. An in-depth research has been made about the profession of a graphic designer in Slovenia: its history, development, chances for education and the current situation in which they find themselves in Slovenia. The most important problems graphic designers have to face, with additional focus on the low value of the profession in Slovenia, are also presented. Since this field of study is not very well developed in terms of statistical data, the majority of data used in this chapter has been obtained from the graphic designers themselves. The research work focuses on the state of the profession in Slovenia. The overview of the design and advertising agencies has been made, while the thesis also focuses on the student work and freelancing in the field of graphic design. The survey has also been carried out on the younger and older generation of graphic designers. The survey included questions about current work, experience, the situation of the profession in Slovenia and abroad, about the education and the future of the profession. An attempt to define the frames of future development has been made, based on the current situation of the profession.
