Abstract

Secondary title: Development of a web application for managing internal documents with Oracle Apex
Secondary abstract: The development of the World Wide Web has also induced the emergence of applications capable of displaying contents at the user interaction. The web application is a client / server application which uses a web browser by the client to communicate with the server. To fulfil responsibilities and organize work, Generali zavarovalnica d.d. adopts acts that have to be followed by all of the employees. All the valid acts are available to the employees at an accessible place in an electronic form as "internal documents". Access to the documents is possible via a web link that is founded on the functionality of the Apache web server to display a directory listing and this has a number of shortcomings. The purpose of the paper is to create a web application for managing internal documents, which will enable a rapid, transparent and, where appropriate, limited access of the employees to the regulations. The web application for managing internal documents is based on the Oracle database and Oracle Apex tool for creating web applications. The development was carried out with a prototyping method by which the initial sample of the application was upgraded and refined to the final acceptable solution. The result of this paper is a functioning web application for the management of internal documents that meets the needs of the company because it enables an efficient search of documents, offers the possibility of a limited access to a single document with regard to the user status; moreover, it enables document management and informing of employees about the adoption of new documents as well as storing statistics of access to individual documents.
