Abstract

Secondary title: RECOGNISABILITY OF MODERN DANCES WITH PUPILS AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Secondary abstract: The theoretical part of the diploma thesis contains the presentation of the modern dance. The initiators of the development of the contemporary dance are introduced individually, among them also some Slovenian representatives. Presented are dancing school teaching the genre. We also submit the primary school curriculum, which mentions the area of dance, and we determine three subject areas which are directly associated with the modern dance: music education, physical education and elective subject dance activities. In the end of the theoretical part we present the festivals, which include modern dances, clothing and footwear for dancers and the difficulties contemporary dancing is facing. In the empirical part of the thesis the data gathered from survey questionnaires are presented, which were filled out by the pupils of the ninth grade from five different elementary schools. The survey was carried out in March and it included 171 students. The purpose of the survey was to explore the visibility of contemporary dances on the population of elementary school children and the relationship of those to contemporary dances. We have found that the vast majority of students is not interested in dancing, they do, however, like the clothing and music in the modern dances. The majority of pupils think that modern dances are most suitable for the young generation.
