Abstract
Sitkom, ki se je razvil iz kratkih radijskih oddaj, je v ZDA izredno popularen žanr. Njegov glavni namen je, da nasmeji gledalce, medtem ko obravnava vsakdanje teme, s katerimi se lahko marsikdo poistoveti. Ta kratka serija nudi več kot samo zabavo. S svojo humornostjo se poleg vsakdanjih tem dotakne marsikatere tabu teme, velikokrat pa je prežeta z mnogimi stereotipi. Svojo pot si je utrla tudi na slovensko javno in komercialno televizijo. Porast komercialnih televizij je pomembno vplival na razvoj javne televizije, zato mora ta vložiti več truda v svojo programsko shemo. Tekma za gledalce spodbuja televizije, da izbirajo popularne vsebine in s tem obdržijo ali celo povečajo število gledalcev. Tako smo lahko priča predvajanju popularnega sitkoma Sodobna družina na javni televiziji in mnogih drugih sitkomov na komercialni.

Sitcom, which has developed from short radio shows, is a very popular genre in America, especially among viewers. Its main purpose is to make people laugh, simultaneously dealing with everyday subjects many can identify with. Nevertheless, this short series offers more than just entertainment. Besides everyday topics, it also concerns many a taboo subjects and is often pervaded with many stereotypes. It has also found its way to the Slovenian public and commercial television. The increase of commercial televisions has a significant influence on the development of public television which has to put more effort into their programming schedule. Race for viewers encourages televisions to choose popular content in order to obtain or even increase their number. Therefore, we bear witness to screening of popular sitcom Modern Family on public television and many more on commercial television. |
