Abstract

Živimo v času mnogih sprememb in hitrega življenjskega ritma.

Secondary title: Job searching problems of unemployed persons in the Celje region
Secondary abstract: We live in a time of numerous changes and a fast pace of life. The economic crisis since 2008 has had a major impact on the labour market, and in Slovenia, we have recorded a significant rise in unemployment in recent years. Due to modern technologies, searching for jobs has changed drastically, so today more methods of searching the job market exist than a decade ago. In this thesis, we were mainly interested in the methods used by the unemployed to look for jobs, the intensity of searching for employment or the attitude to the job search, the problems they face when searching for a job, the awareness of and the involvement in an active employment policy, as well as the readiness for further education. We found that in the Celje region, a large section of the unemployed lost their jobs due to the expiry of a fixed-term contract or the termination of the contract due to business reasons, and there are also a large number of first-time job seekers. On average, the unemployed devote too little time looking for a job, and women are more active than men. The unemployed use several methods of job search at the same time; the most used method of searching for a job is online search, less popular is the use of newspapers and magazines, and the least popular is attending career fairs. The biggest problem in finding a job is the difficulty for the unemployed to get an interview and a response to their application. More than half of the unemployed have been involved in an active employment policy, and most of the unemployed are ready to further educate themselves or are being educated. The biggest problem of today's labour market in the Celje region is the extension of the duration of unemployment; a quarter of respondents have been unemployed for more than three years, where women are on average unemployed longer than men and are disadvantaged.
