magistrsko delo
Abstract

CALCULATION OF TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN THREE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR BY USING FINITE ELEMENT METHOD |
Secondary abstract: |
The objective of this master's thesis is a numerical analysis of induction motor and the possible benefits of its use. The theoretical part of this thesis contains the presentation of the induction motor, the basic principles of the thermal field and the description of finite elements method. These are followed by introducing the theory of the numeric model construction in the EleFAnT and finally, by the short presentation of the optimisation process. In the practical part, the numerical model of the of induction motor will be constructed with the help of the finite elements method. It will be necessary to take into consideration some temperature characteristics of the materials used. The main temperature characteristics are thermal conductivity and thermal transitivity, the values of which are usually taken from the tables. These values have a considerable influence on the final result accuracy, especially if there are more values associated with a certain material. In order to ensure the relevance of the obtained results and their applicability for the temperature calculation in other cases of the induction motors, the numerical model needs to be calibrated. The calibration will be carried out by using the optimisation algorithm and by using the results of the measurements performed on the of induction motor, which were acquired from the Electrical Machine Laboratory in The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
If the analysis confirms the applicability of the numerical model, this will serve as a great help for the induction motor construction in the future, as the information on temperature changes will be available even before the physical construction.
All the tasks needed for this thesis were carried out in the Laboratory for Fundamentals and Theory in The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Maribor. |
