Abstract

Secondary title: Motor skills analysis of the children in their first age period
Secondary abstract: The goals of the diploma thesis, titled Motor skills analysis of the children in their first age period, were to establish the difference in development of motor skillsbetween the children enrolled in physical kindergarten and those enrolled in regularkindergarten, and also the difference of motor skills according to gender and body mass index. In the theoretical part of the thesis the following topics are discussed: characteristics of motor development of children in their first age bracket, the influence of motor development on the other fields of children's development, the importance of kindergarten and parents' influence on motor development, planning physical activities in kindergarten and the researches up to the present. In the empirical part the results of motoric tests of 32 children from kindergartens of Slovenske Konjice are shown. The nonexperimental causal method was used in the study. Nonfortuitous sample consisted of specific population of children aged from two to three years. The children were tested with six motor skill tests. The quantitative technique was used for data collection, quantitative techniques, for data processing the quantitative descriptive statistics, and t-test for independent samples for the analysis of the differences. The analysis provided evidence that the development of motor skills of the children involved in sports kindergarten did not show any statistically significant difference from the motor skills of children in non-sports kindergarten. Regarding the results, the motor skills of boys are not statistically significantly different from motor skills of the girls. The motor skills of the children who have a high BMI are not statistically significantly different from the motor skills of the children having a lower BMI.
