Abstract

Secondary title: Business process management and contemporary business models in supply chains
Secondary abstract: Supply Chain Management (SCM) has become, as a department, an essential counterpart of successful organizations. That being said, SCM has gained its importance due to the fact that enterprises are no longer competing between themselves but rather in clusters of larger number of companies – supply chains. Usually, we use term 'supply chain' in connection to companies led by a manufacturer; however, for the purpose of our master thesis we have examined a new frontier, i.e. management of service-oriented supply chains. By doing that we have been focusing on business processes of service-oriented supply chains and on opportunities for improving these processes. Moreover, we have taken the concept of business model into consideration, since business models have been believed to substantially influence the operationalization of a supply chain. In the continuation of our paper we have introduced lean manufacturing and apply it to the service-oriented supply chains. Additionally, we present the role of innovativeness and analyze the operationalization of a supply chain within the theory of dynamic capabilities. We conclude by encapsulating the determinants of successful innovation process, findings from case study and discussion based upon the semi-structured interview. Lastly, we provide readers with conclusions and implications for the increasing number of service-oriented supply chains
