Abstract

Secondary title: Design and construction of fashion accessories from waste material
Secondary abstract: Waste material would usually end up in the trash or at landfill sites and pollute the environment. To promote awareness of this problem, we offer a collection of unique jewellery. On the basis of research into jewellery history, the newest trends in jewellery design, and their aesthetic norms, we drew inspiration for making our own products. With the help of some experimenting and research into materials we created a collection out of leather waste and clock mechanisms. The collection of two leather necklaces and a necklace made of clock mechanisms is presented in this thesis. We reshaped waste material into unique jewellery and therefore added the value of modern jewellery to it.
