Abstract

Surovine, nedokončana proizvodnja in končani izdelki so primeri zalog v proizvodnem podjetju.

Secondary title: Inventory management in a production system
Secondary abstract: Inventory is any stored resource that is used to satisfy a current or future need. Raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods are examples of inventory in a production company. All organizations have some type of inventory planning and control system. Inventory is one of the most expensive assets of companies, representing usually more than 40 % of total invested capital. Companies must strike a balance between inventory investment and customer service level, and cost optimization is a major factor in obtaining the balance. In the diploma thesis material stocks are defined. Basic inventory control model with constant purchased quantities and special situations with higher demand rate and intervening orders are described. Some guidelines for optimal inventory level calculation are given. Needed work-in-process inventories for the selected production cycles are discussed. All theoretical bases are accompanied with appropriate practical examples.
