diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študijskega programa
Abstract
V zaključku so navedene moje ugotovitve in sklepi v zvezi z obravnavano temo diplomskega dela.

Reintroduction of piggy-back transportation on 5th pan-European railway corridor in Slovenia |
Secondary abstract: |
Piggy-back transport or traffic of trucks on railways can be one of the solutions to reduce traffic jams, to lower transportation costs, to keep environment healthy and especially it can help increase the traffic safety. There are 3 different technologies of piggy back transport: A, B and C. Technology A: whole road truck – tractor unit and the semi-trailer or trailer are loaded and transported on railway wagon; Technology B: only the trailer or semi-trailer without the tractor unit are transported; and technology C – only freight container without the tractor unit and trailer chassis is loaded on the railway wagon.
The introductory part of this diploma thesis contains theoretical explanation of piggy-back traffic, and pros and cons of each, A, B and C technology. Second chapter presents the volume of road traffic on Slovenian highways in years 2013 and 2014, its negative effects on environment and traffic safety. Calculation of fuel consumption and estimated costs of transit of trucks through Slovenia are provided at the end of the second chapter Third chapter describes Pan-European railway corridor V in Slovenia and shows throughput of each railway section as one of the crucial conditions for reintroduction of piggy-back traffic. Fourth chapter presents current piggy-back traffic between railway stations Maribor Tezno in Slovenia and Wels in Austria. Suggestions and necessary measures for reintroduction of piggy-back traffic in Slovenia are listed and described in the fifth chapter.
Conclusions of this diploma thesis are presented in the last chapter. |
