Abstract

Secondary title: NURSING A PATIENT WITH SEVERE PHYSICAL DIFFICULTIES AT HOME
Secondary abstract: Heavily impaired individuals have unaffected perception and mental functions, yet they are limited in performing everyday activities. Therefore, a great deal of psychological support is needed. Patients that are permanently injured and have to use a wheelchair can request a home care nurse to visit them at home. Their job is to offer quality health care. A nurse working in home nursing has to actively deal with issues concerning the patient and his/her family as a whole. With promotion of health the nurse encourages the patient and his/her family to actively take care of their health. In the degree paper, we wanted to focus on actual and potential nursing diagnoses and the role home care nurse has when treating a heavily impaired individual. We also focused on home care nurse’s curative and preventive activities and his/her techniques of successful communication.
