Abstract

V diplomskem delu smo si najprej ogledali, kako je nastal jezik HTML5. Nato smo opisali novosti, ki jih ta standard prinaša. Primerjali smo tehnologijo HTML5 z ostalimi podobnimi tehnologijami, ki so že obstajale pred njo, kot sta Flash in Silverlight, ter dognali, da je tehnologija HTML5 v marsikaterem pogledu boljša od preteklih tehnologij. Posebej smo se osredotočili na element HTML5 Canvas. Opisali smo primerjavo med vektorsko in rastrsko grafiko ter tako predstavili standard SVG, ki je izšel iz standarda HTML. Posebej smo primerjali tehnologiji HTML5 Canvas in SVG ter njuna načina izrisa grafike. V zaključku smo vse novosti in primerjave zajeli v dve enostranski spletni aplikaciji, s katerima je mogoče izrisovati različne like na zaslon, ter z njima praktično primerjali obe tehnologiji. Z meritvami smo dognali, da je tehnologija HTML5 Canvas bolj odzivna pri izrisu velikega števila elementov na zaslon. Ob primerjavi enostavnosti razvoja pri realni uporabi aplikacije pa smo ugotovili, da je za našo implementacijo bolj primerna tehnologija SVG.

Secondary abstract: In the thesis we looked at how the HTML5 language was created. We presented all the novelties of the standard. We compare HTML5 with other similar technologies that have preceded it, such as Flash and Silverlight. We conclude that HTML5 is in many regards better than older technologies. Later in the diploma work we take a closer look specifically at HTML5 Canvas. We compare vector and raster graphics and also introduce SVG standard, which was born indirectly from HTML. We compared the HTML5 Canvas and SVG and examined the graphics mode they are working in. In the conclusion, the novelties were compared and implemented with two single page applications, which enable drawing shapes on the screen, and compare two technologies in practice. We measured the framerate and graphic memory usage of both applications and concluded that HTML5 Canvas was more performant for a big set of drawn elements. After comparing the ease of implementation and comparing the realistic usage we concluded SVG is a better technology for our implementation.
