diplomsko delo
Abstract

Maribor manegersʼ speech in business meetings |
Secondary abstract: |
The graduation thesis Maribor manegersʼ speech in business meetings addresses communication with an emphasis on the business communication of managers. The case study focuses on the speech analysis of managers from Maribor who occupy leading executive positions in larger companies incorporated in Maribor. All of the managers in question have held their positions for at least 5 years, they are from 35 to 55 years of age, and they are all residents of Maribor. The graduation thesis focuses on their communication patterns during business meetings and asks to what degree their speech might affect the successful business operations of the companies, in which they play a very prominent role. As posited in the introduction to the graduation thesis, external communication is particularly important when undertaken by a company's leading managers. This hypothesis was partly confirmed in the course of the analysis. The public image of a company is extremely important for its successful development, and we can confirm that proper pronunciation on the part of the manager does influence the public's perception of the company he or she represents. All the managers taken into consideration are very successful in their respective fields, and although they do resort to the colloquial language of the city of Maribor, they do not do so extensively. A further analysis has determined that gender and age have no impact on proper pronunciation. The graduation thesis confirms that external communication plays a crucial role in constructing the public image of a company and its managers. Therefore, we have also provided some guidelines for managers to help them further improve their speech in business meetings. |
