diplomsko delo
Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava lastnosti populacije navadne česnovke (Alliaria petiolata) v okolici Maribora, ocenjene s pomočjo znakov posameznih osebkov populacije.

Characteristics of Allaria petiolata population in the vicinity of Maribor |

This diploma thesis deals with the characteristics of the garlic mustard population (Alliaria petiolata) in Maribor and surroundings, estimated according to characteristicsof an individual garlic mustard. Our aim was to establish the characteristic of the garlic mustard populationin its autochthonous environment and examine the literature to determine its characteristics in the environment where it appears as an invasive species. One of the main issues was why it became so dominant in the environment, where it is not invasive and why such dominance does not prevail also in the autochthonous environment. Basic population parameters such as height, number of stems, number of husks, number of eaten and number of intact leaves were conducted on the field. After the precise inventory we counted the seeds. Having all these data we were able to conduct statistical analysis of individual parameters and correlations between individual variables. Furthermore, we compared the characteristics of our population with the characteristics of the population in the environment where garlic mustard is invasive and dominant species. We concluded that there are many causes for the success of the invasive nature of garlic mustard in a new environment. In a new environment garlic mustard does not have natural enemies, it has allelopathic effect on other plants, is a tough competitor, it produces a large number of seeds which consequently leads to its aggressive reproduction. |
