Abstract

Metodologija raziskovanja: V diplomskem delu smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela in kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja. Z pravim oz. še boljšim pristopom (z več informacijskega materiala, poznavanjem mobilnih aplikacij) bo motivacija in osveščenost žensk večja.

Secondary title: THE IMPORTANCE OF BREAST EXAMINATION IN COMMUNITY NURSING
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background: Health is a fundamental human value and breasts self-examination is one of the most important activities for one’s own health. This is a procedure, in which a woman get to know her breasts. Women should learn about these techniques at their young age and include them monthly into their life activities. When promoting breasts self-examination, nurses have a big role. By raising woman awareness, it is important to take into the consideration her health enlightenment. A community nurse is facing women at different life stages. She seeks to inform the female population better about health protection measures, which also includes breasts self-examination. The aim of this thesis is to present the importance and the role of community nurses in this action. Methodology: In this thesis, a descriptive method and quantitative research methodology were used. As a research instrument, an anonymous questionnaire was used, completed by 50 community nurses, who deal with different female population. Results: Data obtained with a carried survey has shown that community nurses have sufficient knowledge to identify abnormalities in breasts. Breasts self-examination technique is often referred to in medical-educational work with female population, but they note that with more information materials the interest in demonstration process could be increased. With such lectures, the women enlightenment could be improved in local communities, where community nurses work. Knowing the DORA screening program by community nurses provides a better level of preventive activities at work with the female population. Conclusion: Community nurses as well as other health professionals have an important role in promoting breasts self-examination in health care for women. With right or even better approach (with more information material, knowledge of mobile applications) a motivation and awareness of women will be higher.
