diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študijskega programa I. stopnje
Abstract

REMOVAL OF IRON FROM DRINKING WATER USING IMMOBILISED ALGAE |
Secondary abstract: |
The purpose of this diploma was to determine the efficiency of iron removal from drinking water, with the use of immobilized algae. Algae Chlorella sorokiniana was immobilized on aginate carriers. We desorbed the already used imobilized algae and then regenerated them in order to see the influence on their efficiency. The initial concentrations of iron ions were between 1 and 100 mg/L. The best result was achieved with the concentration of 20 mg/L after 1140 minutes, where the efficiency of iron ions removal from the drinking water reached 99,8 %. The best results achieved at pH 7 after 1440 minutah was 71,8 % removal efficiency. Also, old immobilized algae were used for comparison with the fresh ones. If they were reused after one desorption using EDTA the efficiency was 84,0 %, while after 2 times desorption the efficiency decreased to 62,0 %. |
