Abstract

Secondary title: LEADING EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS IN NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION
Secondary abstract: Motivation is one of the fundamental processes in human activity, connecting needs (motives) with goals. At the organizational level, the employee motivation process is one of the key managerial tasks. There are different theories and concepts of motivation which are often merging and complementing each other in practice. The thesis examines key motivation factors for employees and volunteers working for non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The research confirmed two of the three hypotheses related to internal and external motivation factors. Non-governmental organizations are non-profit associations on all levels of society, be it local or national, volunteer-based or professional. Typical of NGOs in Slovenia is that they are not well-developed in the organizational sense, are financially dependent on the state, and are not interconnected. Motivation of volunteers and employees in the non-governmental sector depends on numerous factors; in spite of the fact that environment can be less than encouraging, there are many dedicated and committed people in NGOs.
