Abstract

Avtorja analizirata poročanje slovenskih novinarjev o sovražnem govoru in njihove etične probleme.

Secondary abstract: The authors analyse Slovenian journalistsʼ reporting on hate speech and their ethical problems. (Inter)textual analysis of reporting on hate speech expressed during the first reading of the proposed Family Law showed that journalists either did not report the parliamentary membersʼ hate speech or only included a few less extreme statements. They avoided evaluation and mostly condemned hate speech through the words of their sources. Interviews with the authors of the analysed reports revealed they are afraid of the effects the spreading of hate speech in news items might have, they have problems recognising it and deciding which words are appropriate for publication, and they do not want to comment in news reports
