Abstract

Secondary title: Development of a child’s motor abilities in the second age bracket
Secondary abstract: In the diploma paper Development of a child's motor abilities in the second age bracket we tried to establish, by using motor tests, to what extent the motor abilities of children in the second age bracket are developed. The diploma paper consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part we present physical education - education for life, motor development and abilities, and the phases of motor development. The empirical part was conducted on a non-random sample of 100 children from three different units. We used quantitative technique to assess their motor abilities, i.e. eleven motor tests with which we tested the children twice within a two-month period. With these tests, we aimed to check whether the motor abilities of children from different units vary over time. We used descriptive statistics to calculate the average standardized value of the results of all the motor tests for each unit for both initial and final assessment. The results showed that children from different units have differently developed motor skills and that in term of motor skills development units also vary in progress between the two assessments.
