Abstract

Secondary abstract: Diploma thesis is focusing on optimisation of stock and manufacturing processes in the company GKN Driveline. It is stating the importance of inventory management and its impact on company profitability. The analysis of stock management trends has highlighted that lean manufacturing concept is already a standard in the automotive industry. Only partial improvements of the existing system are possible and they are also gradually introduced. Lean manufacturing is as rule based on »just in time« purchasing system, »kanban« manufacturing control and »pull« principle for raw materials and products according to actual needs of buyers. In the conclusion »build to a supermarket« concept and »kanban« system for tripod manufacturing line (between the working stations) is suggested. The effects of introduction of suggested improvements are also economically evaluated.
