diplomsko delo

Abstract

Secondary abstract: The thesis The path of Slovenia into the European Union presents key events that marked the period prior to accession to the European Union, as well as the period after Slovenia became a full member of the Union. Due to the extent of the topic covered, the last chapter describes what is in my opinion the most important political milestone after Slovenia gained independence in 1991, namely the Slovenian EU Council presidency. For purposes of general understanding, I briefly present the creation of the European Union and its organization at the beginning of the thesis. Since there is ample literature available on topics of Slovenia and the European Union, I focused primarily on reports by daily newspapers Delo and Večer, as well as Mladina magazine. I followed on the reports on landmark events and their time frame.
