diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija Varnost in policijsko delo
Abstract
V diplomskem delu sem ugotovila, kako so duševne bolezni povezane s kaznivimi dejanji in kako pogoste pravzaprav so v Sloveniji in tujini.

We are forced to live a fast-paced life. Therefore it is not unusual, that there are a lot of people affected by stress. Ignoring stress has its consequences. There are a number of diseases that originate or are compounded by stress. Stres cause symptoms, physicall or mental ones. In the thesis I investigate mental sympthoms that manifest itself in a form of a criminal offense. Who suffers from sever stress can not think rationally anymore and makes more mistakes than usual. So it is also not unusual that there are a lot work related accidents, car accidents, accidents at home or as the worst case, deviant responses.
However, stress is only one of the factors of a mental illness. A mental disease, which is often overlooked is anxiety. Later I will explain symptoms of this mental disease. Anxiety is often also a cause or cofounding factor for other mental diseases and criminal activities.
In the thesis I will also found out that is there is a lot of stigma of mental diseases. People with mental illnesses are therefore somehow ''traped'' and they do not see a way out. They are afraid of looking for help or go to a therapist becuase of the stigma. A mental illness is the same as some other psysical disease. If a person does not go and see a doctor, the symptoms deteriorate and can result in a criminal act. We should encourage people who suffer from mental diseases to seek help.
In this thesis I am investigating what is the connection between mental health and criminal activity. As we will see, the researchers have different opinions. I will take a look in a study that took place in Durham prison, England. The researchers discovered several different mental diseases. Most common are personality disorder, anxiety and schizophrenia. I will also explain different types of shizophrenia. I will also explain different types of drugs and their impact on state of mental disease and connection to criminal activity. |
