Abstract

Mladostniki so ranljiva skupina, ki so v času odraščanja postavljeni pred mnoge odločitve. Soočeni so z vse večjimi lastnimi pričakovanji, pričakovanji staršev in okolice.

Secondary title: High school students experiences with drugs and preventive programs
Secondary abstract: Adolescents are a vulnerable group in society since they are constantly confronted with many decisions as well as dealing with their own expectations and the expectations of their parents and the environment surrounding them. The factors which can help them overcome this difficult period with the least amount of negative consequences and experiences include their family's support, friendships, educational inclusion and a positive self-image. In this context it is essential not to neglect the significance of quality early-prevention programmes which need to relate to the needs of adolescents and provide them with information. In my thesis I analyse experiences of adolescents with drugs including their access to drugs and how knowledgeable they really are about them. I am interested in finding out what exactly it is about drugs and their consequences that interests them particularly what can they find out from responsible adults who prepare content for and carry out early-prevention programmes. In the theoretical part of my thesis I focus on describing the period of adolescence along with different perspectives on identity and its development as well as the role of the family in that respect. I mention risk and protective factors and the importance of prevention. The empirical part of my thesis includes embodies qualitative research which is based on interviews with ten senior students of different secondary schools in Ljubljana. I present the results of my empirical study in blocks according to content. Based on the results of my study it is evident that the experiences of interviewees with drugs are relatively similar. Through the conversations the indisputable significance of protective factors can be detected. Early prevention programmes and training which the interviewees had attended during their high school years are assessed as inadequate.
