magistrsko delo
Abstract
Udeleženci raziskave so izpolnjevali vprašalnik motenj hranjenja EDI-3, vprašalnik medosebnih odnosov RQ, vprašalnik ortoreksije ORTO-15, vprašalnik narcisizma NPI in vprašalnik odvisnosti od interneta IAT.

Characteristics of bulimia nervoza and orthorexia nervoza in connection with the theory of attachment styles, narcissistic traits and pathological use of the internet |
Secondary abstract: |
Eating disorders today represent a worrisome problem in the field of mental health. In this work we address the bulimia nervosa (BN), which is characterized by recurring periods of overeating in shorter time intervals, which are followed by inadequate compensatory behavioural patterns intended to prevent the gaining of body weight. We will look into the latest form of eating disorder called orthorexia nervosa (ON), which is characterized by a pathological obsession with healthy, biologically safe food, but shows consequences on different layers of one's life. The master's work notes between these two terms with different fundamental characteristics of persons who show a predisposition/sickness with disorders in eating, with attachment styles, narcissistic personality traits and the pathological use of the internet. The study involved 251 people (101 men and 150 women). The participants of the research completed the questionnaires about the eating disorders EDI-3, the questionnaire of interpersonal relations RQ, questionnaire about orthorexy ORTO-15, the questionnaire about narcissism NPI and questionnaire about the internet addiction IAT. The results showed that ON more frequently occurs in women than in men. The differences in the index of body mass (BMI) in persons inclined to BN were not statistically significant. The examination of fundamental properties confirmed that persons showing a tendency to BN possess a low self-esteem, are less satisfied with their own bodies, and show an exaggerated control (asceticism, perfectionism). In the connection between the predisposition to ON and dimensions of narcissism there were no significant statistical differences. The questionnaire of interpersonal relations RQ revealed persons with tendency to BN and ON showing a secure style of attachment, where there have been no significant statistical links between the preoccupied, shy and adverse style of attachment. Also there have been no significant statistical connections between a non-secure style of attachment, narcissism and predisposition to BN. The sub category of the questionnaire EDI-3, which measures the quality of interpersonal relationships has shown that people who are prone to BN do not prove any deficits in the latter area. We also investigated the link between pathological internet use and predisposition to BN, which proved to be statistically significant. The developmental limit of disturbance in eating has been increasingly moving towards earlier periods, making the understanding and exploration of risk factors even more important. The results of the work show the connection between some of the concepts and the importance of the survey of the latter in further research. |
