(diplomsko delo)
Abstract

NURSING CARE PROBLEMS OF PATIENTS WITH OVARIAN HYPERSTIMULATION SYNDROME |
Secondary abstract: |
Introduction: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is the most common complication in the medically assisted reproduction procedure. When the syndrome is present in a moderate or severe form, hospital treatment is required. Research has shown that the patients with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome have following nursing problems: respiratory insufficiency, too large volume of fluids, nausea, anxiety, and acute pain. The purpose of the research is to show with a case study, which are the most frequent nursing problems with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
Methods: In this diploma thesis, a descriptive method of work is used. The research was based on a quantitative methodology. There was carried out a case study of a patient with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. The data were collected through semi-structured questionnaire and the analysis of nursing and medical records. The sample included one patient.
Results: We established that the patient with ovarian hyperstimulation had specific problems: abdominal pains, fluid imbalance, sleep disorders, and an increased risk of infection.
Discussion and conclusion: In the literature, numerous symptoms of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome are listed, but not all of them were expressed in the treated patient. The work of a nurse is to determine the patient's need for nursing care, and her problems and symptoms, as well as to react in time and to report any deviations to a doctor. Before discharge from the hospital, a nurse gives relevant instructions on the nursing care in the home environment to the patient and responds to the questions within her competences. |
