diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija Varstvoslovje
Abstract
V opazovanih letih sta bili dve hudi telesni poškodbi, in sicer ena v letu 2011 in ena v letu 2012. V letu 2013 in 2014 policisti v delovnem procesu niso bili hudo poškodovani.

In this diploma thesis we have dealt with the problem of injuries, suffered by police officers on duty, and the reasons they occur in the effort of finding solutions on how to reduce them. Doing this, we have ascertained that in the years 2005 and 2006 there were 531 victims i.e. police officers altogether, 514 or 96,8 % of which were men and 17 or 3,2 % were women, aged 21 to 50. The majority of police officers that were attacked have had 5 actual years of service. The longer the service of a police officer, the less at risk they are i.e. the lower the rate is of potential victims.
In the report (2011-2015) minor physical injuries accounted for a majority of all injuries sustained by police officers. In the four years, minor physical injuries accounted for more than 73 % of all injuries. In 2012 and 2013 these injuries accounted for more than 80 % of all injuries and consequently the percentage of abrasions, scrapes and other minor injuries was less than 20 %. During the observed four years there were two severe physical injuries in 2011 and one in 2012. In 2013 and 2014 police officers were not seriously injured while performing their duties. There were no particularly serious physical injuries during the years 2011 and 2014 as well. But unfortunately there was one fatality in 2014. While performing his duty, one police officer was shot and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Thus we come to the conclusion and agree with several different authors, who, based on studying various authors, suggested which measures to take in order to reduce injuries. In order to prevent work-related accidents and injuries, the most important thing is to know, what causes them and how to eliminate these causes. If we know the reason, why a work-related injury occurs, we can start eliminating them with proper preventive measures. The measures can be either preventive (directed at eliminating potential causes) or corrective (directed at eliminating existing causes). |
