Abstract

Secondary abstract: Graduation project presents the concept of stress, which is a disease of modern times. Stress is the result of 80 %, due to why people visit a doctor. Doctors’ visits are more and more increasing in the recent years and that shows relevance of this topic. The thesis presents the causes of stress, its consequences and activities to help overcome stress. The thesis study has been conducted on a sample of 143 individuals from Podravje region. The purpose of this study was to find out how much stress people experience in the workplace. It has shown that on a scale from 1 to 5, people experience stress on average 3.7. We assumed that women experience more stress in the workplace than men. We used T-test to check if there is a statistical significance according to sex, but the analysis shows that there are no differences. Then we determined if there is a statistical significance between experiencing stress in the work place and performing activities for relaxation, sports activities and having a balanced diet. We came to the conclusion that between those variables is not statistically significant correlation. We can conclude that no matter how much people practice sports activities, activities for relaxation and have a balanced diet, they still experience the same level of stress as people who do not practice anything of the above. The third hypothesis assumed that there is a statistically significant connection between experiencing stress in the workplace and behavior of the superior. We found out that superior has statistically significant impact on individual’s perception of stress. It also effects if individual does not know how he will react at any given time (positive or negative.
