Zavedanje uporabnikov o tehnični varnosti podatkovnega centra

Abstract

V diplomskem delu smo predstavili varnost podatkovnih centrov, ki so v sodobnem času ključni del v informacijski tehnološki infrastrukturi. Namen podatkovnega centra je hraniti podatke na strežnikih in imeti te podatke dostopne in varovane za uporabnike, ki jih hranijo. Velikost podatkovnih centrov je odvisna od potrebe uporabnika in lahko zasede prostor ene sobe ali celo zgradbo. Zaradi velike potrebe po hranitvi podatkov na varnih lokacijah se je število podatkovnih centrov povečalo. Ti podatkovni centri prodajajo prostor na svojih strežnikih podjetjem in individualnim uporabnikom v zameno za mesečno plačilo. Zaradi velike uporabe te storitve se moramo vprašati, kako dobro so zavarovani naši podatki. Na to vprašanje smo poskušali odgovoriti s predstavitvijo tehnično varnostnih sredstev, ki jih uporabljajo podatkovni centri. Na začetku diplomskega dela smo začeli s predstavitvijo zgodovine nastanka podatkovnega centra. V tem delu so predstavljeni pomembni tehnološki prelomi, ki so vodili do podatkovnih centrov, ki jih poznamo danes. Nato smo predstavili zgradbo podatkovnega centra, standard dosegljivosti ter storitve, ki jih ponujajo podatkovni centri. Prvi del diplomske naloge smo zaključili s predstavitvijo mobilnih podatkovnih centrov, ki omogočajo mobilnost podatkovnega centra na kraj, kjer je njegovo delovanje potrebno. V osrednjem delu diplomske naloge smo predstavili različna področja tehničnega varovanja podatkovnega centra. V tem delu smo začeli z opisom tehničnega varovanja pred nepooblaščenim dostopom do podatkovnega centra. Nato so predstavljeni vzdrževanje vlage v zraku in hlajenje ter varovanje podatkovnega centra proti naravnim nesrečam. Na koncu še opišemo varovanje podatkovnega centra pred požarom ter konstantno oskrbo z elektriko. V zadnjem delu diplomske naloge predstavimo opravljeno anketo, v kateri smo preverili uporabnikovo zavedanje o varnosti podatkov, ki jih hrani podatkovni center. Diplomska naloga je zaključena z raziskavo, razpravo in zaključkom.

Secondary abstract:	In this thesis we present the security of data centers, which are in modern times a key part of the information technology infrastructure. The purpose of the data center is to store data on the servers and have the data protected and accessible for the users. The size of a data center depends on the needs of the user. It can occupy one room or a whole building. Because of a great need to save data in a safe location, the number of data center has grown. These data centers sell space on their servers to users for a monthly payment. Because of the wide use of these services we have to ask how well is our data protected. I have tried answering this question by presenting what times of technical security a data center uses. At the beginning of the thesis we started with a presentation of the history of the data center. This section presents important technological breakthroughs which led to the data center as we know them today. Then we presented the structure of a data center, the availability standard and the services data centers offer. The first part of the thesis we conclude with the presentation of the mobile data centers. In the middle part of the thesis we presented different areas of technical security of the data center. In this section we started with describing technical protection against unauthorized access to the data center. Then we present the maintenance of moisture in the air and cooling, and data center protection against natural disasters. We ended this part with the description of the data center protection against fire and the means of insuring constant supply of electricity. In the end of the thesis work we present a survey in which we seeks to determine the users awareness of data center security and the security of the data it holds. The thesis was ended with the results of the survey, deliberation and my final thoughts.
