Abstract

Secondary title: Geometric abstraction and its interpretation by students in art class
Secondary abstract: The thesis is focused on abstract art, specifically paintings and its geometric version, which is linked with my own interpretation. Thesis also includes a lesson plan for an art class at the secondary level of education. The theory of abstract arts and my own work is associated with the review of the historical origins of this concept. In thesis I introduce the leading artists in this specific field: V. Kandinsky (1866-1944), P. Mondrian (1872-1944), K. Malevich (1878-1935) and Slovenian representative August Černigoj (1898-1985). The thesis explores the various possibilities of expression in abstract paintings offered by various art assets, media and visual elements. The research in my project is based on my own creative starting points where the form of geometry exists through expressive content of colors, shapes and lines and other artistic elements. Last part of my thesis is a didactic part in which I present various interpretation of geometric abstraction made by first year students of Secondary School of Nursing Ljubljana.
