Abstract

Secondary title: Mobile user experience: Patterns and guidelines
Secondary abstract: The main subject and focus of the thesis was the area of mobile user experience for native mobile apps. In this study, the primary objectives were to research what is mobile user experience, determine important mobile patterns, which can ultimately affect the mobile user experience and determine how to plan and measure the mobile user experience. Secondary objectives were to explore how individual mobile pattern affects the mobile user experience and what are the challenges of measurement for each mobile pattern and in general for the overall mobile user experience. For the purpose of the master's thesis we have developed a theoretical model that enabled us to clearly define the concepts and connections between concepts which was based on the research questions and identified mobile patterns. The practical part of the master's thesis, which was based on the theoretical model, showed how to perform a research on existing mobile application with the help of case study and statistics. For the purposes of the case study, we have randomly selected 41 participants who have helped us in carrying out methodological triangulation for collecting data. More precisely, with the help of the participants we have collected quantitative and qualitative data, and we have gained empirical data, on the basis of which we tested the hypothesis. The results of the case study and the main findings of the thesis showed that the mobile user experience is different from desktop mobile experience and that there are a lot of patterns that can improve the mobile user experience. It also showed that instead labeling the patterns as good or bad, or right and wrong combinations of patterns, there should be a variety of applications designed for the various targeted groups of mobile users.
