Abstract
Zanimali sta nas struktura in ultrastruktura treh različnih delov trebušne slinavke miši; duodenalnega, spleničnega in gastričnega režnja.

Microscopic and ultrastructural features of the cells from the duodenal, splenic, and gastric lobe of the mouse pancreas |
Secondary abstract: |
Diabetes, pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer are only some of the many diseases which provide us with a reason to perform studies of the pancreas. The mouse (Mus musculus), as a model organism for pancreas research, can be considered one of the more important sources of knowledge for the field of Human Medicine. The pancreas is the second largest digestive gland inside the abdomen. It functions both as an exocrine gland, excreting gastric juices, and as an endocrine gland, regulating the homeostasis of glucose. This work focused on the study of the structure and ultrastructure of the duodenal, splenic, and gastric lobes of the mouse pancreas. After removing the pancreas from the abdomen of the mouse, we analyzed its structural parts using light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results of this work indicate that the sizes of islets of Langerhans of different structural parts of the mouse pancreas do not differ. Additionally, it was determined that statistically significant differences between the sizes of glucagon vesicles and granules, insulin granules and vesicles, somatostatin granules and acinar zymogen granules exist. No statistical differences in the longest diameters of somatostatin granules between the duodenal and the splenic lobes were observed. Additional analysis showed that the ratios of endocrine and exocrine granules between different structural parts of the mouse pancreas do not differ. Structural differences of the lobes of the mouse pancreas were not observed, though differences in the ultrastructure were seen. No large differences were found when comparing the results of this work with other results obtained from other published literature. |
