Abstract

Secondary title: Influence of metal coping fabrication technology on price of metal-ceramic restorations
Secondary abstract: Introduction: The metal-ceramic crown is one of the most used fixed dental restorations. It combines a metal alloy frame which is veneered with ceramics for a natural look. The cost price gives us information about the manufacturing cost of a product. It is very important that we know the manufacturing proces well, because it is the only way to accurately determine all direct and indirect costs incured in its production. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to explore new ways of metal coping production, compare them to the conventional method and compare calculated cost prices. Methodology: The methods used in this work included a review of literature on the topic of metal-ceramics restorations. In the results, we present three metal-ceramic bridges which we made. Results: Three diferent technologies of metal frame manufacturing are featured. The analysis was carried out during work, then we calculated the cost price of each metal-ceramic restoration. Discussion and conclusion: In the analysis we discovered that the production of a metal-ceramic bridge with molded frames is the most cost effective The cost price of a metal-ceramic bridge with molded frames is 144.22 € and is 32 % cheaper than a metal-ceramic bridge with milled frame (190.11 €), and 22 % cheaper than a metal-ceramic bridge with SLS frame (176.40 €). We also discovered that computerized production extends production time from one to three days on average. From the gathered data we concluded that it is uneconomical to produce metal frames in small metal-ceramic bridges using computerized production.
