Abstract

Secondary title: Art during Realsocialism in Slovenian painting
Secondary abstract: The idea of social realism was formed in the Soviet Union, namely at the first federal congress of Soviet writers. The doctrine of social realism was declared by Ždarov in 1934. In the Slovenian space, such tendencies appeared in the thirties of the 19th century, never as a bounding doctrine, but only as a proposal for the operations of artists. Changes after the socialist transformation also created new conditions for cultural activities. The socialist principles of the social system accelerate the development of cultural creativity of the people, art is becoming less a privilege of the rich, it is increasingly approaching the masses, since the content is closely associated with the folk life. Culture is increasingly gaining a political role. The real socialism in the Slovenian space denotes a very wide range of works, ranging from monumental compositions, heroic figures all the way to almost intimate works. The sources for these works were not only socialistic, since Slovenian artists also combined their own artistic tradition, the pre-war art. The period of socialist realism in Yugoslavia is gradually concluding with the conflict between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union in the early fifties of the 19th century. The artistic space is being slowly liberalized and a shift towards modernism is appearing.
