diplomsko delo
Abstract
The purpose of my diploma paper was to establish the influence of English on Slovene blogs; namely, in which linguistic areas it appears and how it is manifested in them. In order to do that I carried out a study in which I examined close to 100 randomly chosen Slovene blogs and examined them for lexical and syntactic characteristics. The collected examples were them classified in different categories according to their meaning, use and function. I found that the English influence on Slovene blogs is mostly seen in lexis (various degrees of adaptation of loanwords and slang); the influence is seen also in syntax, although not a substantial one (the redundant use of possessive pronouns, the use of nouns in a premodifying function in front of nominal headwords where in Slovenia we would normally expect an adjective or some other construction, the use of proper names/brand names in the premodifying position, word-for-word translation of calques. Furthermore, the influence of English on Slovene blogs is seen also in partial use of English in names of bloggers and categories and titles of blogs and blog entries. The following facts could be the reasons for the above stated influence of English on Slovene blogs: (1) English is the main means of communication on the Internet; as such it enables better recognition, maybe even popularity on the world wide web (2) Many times English is seen as the language that is more prestige, sophisticated, and modern than the language we were born into.

Vpliv angleščine na slovenske bloge |

Namen diplomske naloge je bil ugotoviti vpliv angleščine na slovenske bloge, in sicer na katerih jezikovnih ravneh in kako se le-ta v njih kaže. V ta namen sem izvedla raziskavo, v kateri sem pregledala skoraj 100 naključno izbranih slovenskih blogov. |
