Secondary title: | External execution of logistics activities in the automotive industry |
Secondary abstract: | External execution or outsourcing is a method of company's specialization on performing activities in which it achieves competitive advantages on the market. Focus on core competencies and executions of supporting activities by a third-party have made company's operations more efficient. In foreign countries, outsourcing is a very well established practice. While these companies outsource complicated and complete business tasks, Slovenian companies continue transferring only simple services. Due to the complexity of the supply chains, logistics are becoming even more a common subject of outsourcing. Logistics providers have power of disposal of necessary knowledge and technology and develop complete logistics solutions for different branches. Due to global presence and a great number of supply chain participants, automotive industry companies are the biggest users of such services. Automobile manufacturers that outsource their logistics service have managed to reduce operational costs and improve quality of the final product. As innovative cycles are shortening, involvement of the automotive suppliers in the production process of the manufacturers is becoming even greater. Suppliers of the German company Smart GmbH also participate in its development activities and are fully integrated in its production system. |
