diplomsko delo visokošolskega strokovnega študija
Abstract

MIGRATING TO IP TELEPHONY IN INTERNATIONAL COMPANY |
Secondary abstract: |
My diploma thesis is describing the gradual transition from the classic type of telephony to the IP (Internet Protocol) telephony. This is a step that have been already made by many companies throughout the world, but many companies are still waiting. We will present the background of both classic and IP telephony and their basic components. Moreover, we will try to explain, why just now is the right moment for such transition and what has to be done in order to achieve this objective. At the other hand, we might encourage somebody to decide about similar intervention.
The gradual transition to the IP telephony has been described, which means that in the first step we still retain the classic telephone switchboard and we are adding the IP part, taking care for the traffic inside of the company and between subsidiaries and remote locations, either home or within international framework.
Presented solution of the idea is being composed of components that are available to each company and are representing the good working package. Such solution is intended for big and middle size companies for which, due to their geographical dispersion, the voice communication is representing significant cost, but at the other hand, they are heavily dependent on these communications.
The main reason for the replacement or renewal of the telephone network respectively is the technological obsolescence of the current system and the cost related imbalance. The extent of communications with foreign countries within the company is increasing and consequently the costs of classic telephony are increasing too. In case we are upgrading the telephony to the IP protocol and we are using for the data transmission already existing data line, we are saving the significant amount of money intended for telephone communications. Majority of these financial assets have so far been intended for the telephone communication between subsidiaries of the company. |
