Abstract

Gostota je ena izmed najpomembnejših termodinamskih lastnosti, ki jih potrebujemo za načrtovanje procesov oz. procesnih naprav. Gostote enofaznih sistemov so večinoma dobro raziskane in podatki so dostopni v številni literaturi (tudi za enofazne sisteme pri visokih tlakih). Podatki o gostotah dvofaznih sistemov (oziroma večfaznih sistemov) so nekoliko bolj redki, posebno pri povišanih tlakih. Gostoto takega sistema smo izmerili v okviru diplomskega dela in sicer smo delali s sistemom polietilen glikol (PEG)/CO2 pri povišanih tlakih (do 450 bar). PEG je polimerna snov z različnim povprečjem molskih mas. Pri našem delu smo uporabili PEG molskih mas 1500 g/mol, 3000 g/mol ter 6000 g/mol, ki so vsi v trdnem agregatnem stanju. Pri naših obratovalnih pogojih (tlak med 80 bar in 450 bar, temperatura med 50°C in 65°C) je CO2 v stanju superkritičnega fluida. To pomeni, da ima tako lastnosti plina kot tekočine. Superkritični CO2 je eden najpogosteje uporabljenih SCF zaradi svoje inertnosti in relativno nizke kritične temperature ter kritičnega tlaka se zelo pogosto uporablja za različne ekstrakcije.

Secondary abstract: Density is one of the most important thermodynamic properties, which is needed for chemical process design. Densities of one phase systems are mostly well researched and the data is accessible in the literature (also for one phase systems at high pressure). Data on the densities of two phase systems (or multiphase systems) is not so accessible, especially for systems at high pressures. In this work the density of the PEG/CO2 system at high pressures (up to 450 bar) was determined. PEG is a polymer with a variety of molar masses. PEG of molar masses 1500 g/mol, 3000 g/mol and 6000 g/mol, which are all in a solid state, were applied in this work. At our operating conditions (pressure between 80 bar and 450 bar, temperature between 50oC and 65oC) CO2 is in a supercritical fluid state, which means it has gas and liquid characteristics. Supercritical CO2 is one of the most commonly used SCF, because of its inertness and relatively low critical temperature and critical pressure. CO2 is often used as a solvent in extraction processes.
