Abstract

Secondary title: Project office and project information system implementation in construction company
Secondary abstract: Construction companies are based on the number of their workforce, their management documentation and their vast communication and coordination processes for the achievement of their goals - projects. Since construction companies are carrying out a large number of projects at the same time, it comes to a multi-project environment. A number of connections and interwoven relationships characterize projects as extremely complex. Organizational behaviour of construction companies is mostly very methodical, which is reflected in a highly hierarchical organizational structure that, in a global competition with an ongoing changing environment, does not allow the necessary creativity and the continuous, self-organizing adaptability to external changes, in terms of social and information-technological progress. In order to enable to all those involved in all phases of the project the exchange and access to vital information, we need the favour of top management for an entirely new organizational concept. Such a concept spontaneously triggers the desire to initiate change and the introduction of information system technologies. Due to more effective project management, the implementation of a Project office is necessary, as an organizational unit with the support of appropriate IT solutions which must be effectively used.
