Abstract

Do poškodb prepogosto prihaja v vrtcu in s tem pomembno poseže v otrokovo življenje. Pridobljene podatke smo obdelali kvantitativno z deskriptivno statistiko, in sicer frekvenčno distribucijo, z uporabo tabel in grafičnim prikazom, izdelanim s pomočjo programa Office Word.

Secondary title: THE MOST COMMON INJURIES OF CHILDREN IN KINDERGARTEN
Secondary abstract: Injury is an external force which damages the child's tissue, organs or the entire organism. Injuries often occur in kindergarten and thus importantly interfere with a child's life. To a child, every injury is an obstacle and it is slowing him or her down when meeting his or her development objectives. The purpose of this diploma paper was to investigate the field of the most common injuries in kindergarten children. Using a questionnaire, we interviewed 21 kindergarten teachers in the kindergarten Ravne na Koroškem. This indirectly includes a total number of 390 children, aged from 11 months to 6 years, who were enrolled in kindergarten Ravne na Koroškem in the year 2011/2012. We wished to determine the incidence of injuries in kindergarten children, the frequency of injuries by age and sex, and whether the injuries occur more often during organized activities or during free play. We also identified the most common injuries according to kindergarten facilities, which are the most common causes of injuries, and the type and location of injuries. The acquired data was analyzed quantitatively with descriptive statistics which includes frequency distribution and use of tables and charts made in Microsoft Office Word. Our study showed that injuries in kindergarten do not occur frequently, but are more common in boys. Injuries usually occur during free play, mostly in the outside playground or after a fall from play or climbing equipment. The most common cause is an unpredictable situation which results in a fall and usually a head injury. The kindergarten uses protective measures and has prepared Rules on child safety. The kindergarten teachers have a good first-aid knowledge.
