Abstract

Diplomsko delo obravnava problematiko komunalnih oz. hišnih odpadnih voda. V trimesečnem obdobju smo skušali ovrednotiti in primerjati učinkovitost delovanja oz.

Secondary title: The efficiency comparison between small wastewater treatment plants
Secondary abstract: The diploma thesis deals with the issue of domestic wastewater. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis we describe the laws and regulations as a key tool in achieving the relevant effects of wastewater treatment and thereby reducing the impact on the environment. More specifically, we presented two small biological treatment plants for cleaning of domestic wastewater, the principle of operation and proper maintenance. In the period of three months, we compared cleaning efficiencies of two small biological treatment plants based on physical and chemical analyses. Feed and effluent wastewater quality was monitored by measuring pH, turbidity, settleable solids, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and concentrations of dissolved oxygen, ammonium ions and total phosphorus as well as solids content in activated sludge. We ascertained, that removal efficiency of organic substances can be high, and consequently confirmed that such technology is appropriate for cleaning of domestic wastewater. On the other hand, the efficiency can drop dramatically if the treatment plant is not properly maintained.
