Secondary abstract: | In the seminar we study models of blood sugar regulation. Two models are presented. The minimal model considers plasma glucose and insulin concentration as well as interstitial insulin activity. The upgraded model additionally includes glucagon as a system variable which enables the system to recover to the steady state after the transient rise of glucose concentrations in the blood plasma. Different states of biological system are presented and discussed in the seminar: hyperglicemia, glucose shock and diabetes. We also simulate the time evolution of concentrations of blood glucose, insulin and other model variables after consumed meal. |
