Abstract

Secondary title: Modern materials in vehicles and their impact on the environment and road safety
Secondary abstract: This diploma thesis introduces some of the modern materials, which are or will be used in motor vehicle production, there main properties and impact on the environment and road safety. Discussion is made for traffic engineer’s perspective. Thesis also includes short historical overview of material use in vehicle production and recycling capabilities of materials, which are being used in today's motor vehicles manufacturing. Because of ever more stringent environmental legislations and increased negative impact on environment, use of modern materials, which will ensure adequate safety for all road users, low production costs and will enable environmental friendly decommissioning or recycling, is reasonable and it is one of key guidelines by which car manufactures would have to abide in 21st century. The last part of this diploma thesis gives a graphical presentation of ratio, by which road safety, impact on environment and economy affect each other, of most perspective modern materials, which address above mentioned issues.
