Abstract

Secondary title: PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE IN THE FAMILY
Secondary abstract: Because of great emotional and psychological relationships that are characteristic of family relationships, the family is a lot more stressful than other social groups. Each law defines family according to the purpose of regulating relations among individuals. The definition of domestic violence must be similar and it should cover all forms of violence such as physical, psychological, sexual, as well as to determine the range of persons who are as family members affected by violence. Psychological violence in the family is defined as conduct which the perpetrator of violence in a family member causes fear, humiliation, feelings of inferiority, vulnerability and other mental distress, whatever the form of action. International legal instruments do not explicitly mention psychological violence, but victims are protected by general provisions which constitute the basis for an upgrade within national laws and regulations. Slovenian legislation in this area laid the foundations of the adopted laws, which must be scrupulously observed. In recent years, the social work centers are carrying the heaviest burden, as they coordinate and link the group work of various government bodies and NGOs. The police is one that is mostly in contact with the mental family violence on the field.
