Povzetek
Transseksualci so nekakšna spolna manjšina, o kateri smo večinoma premalo poučeni, saj mnogo ljudi še zmeraj meni, da gre za hud in perverzen odklon od »normalnega«, ne glede na to, kaj to sploh pomeni. Po mnenju raznovrstnih strokovnjakov je transseksualnost motnja spolne identitete oziroma želja osebe, da bi bila nasprotnega spola, zato svoje počutje najpogosteje opisuje kot neprijetno stanje oziroma občutek, da v telesu biva oseba »napačnega« spola. Transseksualnost v najožjem smislu pomeni pojav, ko oseba (operativno) spremeni biološki spol. Vendar termin vključuje tudi stanja, pri čemer osebe upajo na spremembo spola, vendar se ta dejansko (še) ni zgodila, ter stanja, ko osebe le čutijo določeno diskrepanco med biološkim in družbenim spolom.
Pri transseksualnosti se odpira več pomembnih značilnosti in vprašanj v sodobni družbi. Eno najbolj perečih vprašanj transseksualnosti in druge problematike različnosti spolov je pravno priznanje novega spola transseksualne osebe. To vključuje tudi spremembo imena v uradnih dokumentih in spremembo spola v evidencah. Ta in podobna pravna vprašanja so v različnih državah različno urejena, pravna praksa pa kaže, da morajo posamezne države na tem področju še veliko storiti. Opazne so tudi razlike glede sprejemanja in priznavanja oseb s spremenjenim spolom v Evropski uniji.
Odprta so tudi pomembna vprašanja, ki se nanašajo na prepoved in preprečevanje diskriminacije transseksualnih oseb. To vključuje tako diskriminacijo zaradi biološkega kot spremenjenega spola. Diskriminacija zaradi spola oziroma druge osebne okoliščine je tako kot v večini držav po svetu prepovedana tudi v Sloveniji, praksa pa dokazuje, da temu le ni vedno tako. Osebe, ki so spremenile svoj spol, so pogosto izpostavljene diskriminaciji na delovnem mestu, v družbi ipd., dokazujejo izsledki raziskav.

Transsexuals are a kind of sexual minority, about which is mostly not enough known, as a lot of population still believe this is major and pervert deviation from »normal«, regardless of its meaning. According to different experts the transsexualism is a sexual identity disorder or means personal tendencies to be a person of a different gender, therefore they usually describe their feelings as uncomfortable situation or feeling of a person of the »wrong« gender. The transsexualism means that the person (surgically) changes their biological sex. The term includes also the conditions in which individuals hope for sex reassignment, but this hasn't been done (yet), as well as conditions when individuals feel only certain disorder between biological sex and social presentation.
In the field of the transsexualism there are several significant characteristics and issues in modern society. Legal recognition of the new gender of an transsexual individual is one of the most significant issues of the transsexualism and other issues in the area of the sexual differences. This includes also the name modification in public documents and sex reassignment in registries. Different countries around the world differently deal with these and similar legal issues, with legal practice showing that there are several questions that need to be addressed. There are also significant differences regarding accepting and recognition individuals whose sexual characteristics are altered in European Union.
Some important issues need to be addressed, regarding the prohibition and preventing the discrimination against transsexual people. This includes the discrimination against biological sex as well as a social presentation of a new gender. In Slovenia the sex discrimination or discrimination on the grounds of other personal circumstances is banned, as well as in majority of states, but in practice it is proven otherwise. Individuals that undergone sex reassignment are often discriminated at work, in society etc. show the researches. |
