vloga zaznane socialne opore in spoprijemanja s stresom
Pridobljene podatke smo zbrali s pomočjo vprašalnika o doživljanju stresa, vprašalnika spoprijemanja COPE, multidimenzionalne lestvice zaznane socialne opore in vprašalnika psihološkega blagostanja RPWB.

Perceived stress and psychological well-being |

Due to constant pressures and lack of time all individuals experience stress, yet stress is particularly prominent in students at the emerging adulthood (Arnett, 2000), since this is a period of change and insecurity that requires from individuals good abilities to adapt and cope with stressors. The purpose of this research was therefore to explore the correlation between perceived stress, coping strategies, perceived social support and psychological well-being. More specifically, we were interested in whether adaptive and maladaptive coping strategies and various sources of perceived social support predict psychological well-being and moderate the relationship between perceived stress and psychological well-being. The study involved 222 students (87.8 % of them women) from various faculties of Slovenian universities. The data were collected using the Perceived Stress Scale, the COPE Inventory, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and the Ryff Scales of Psychological Well-Being (RPWB). Scales were presented to participants in the form of an online questionnaire. For the sample of Slovenian students the analysis of the results showed that perceived support of friends positively predicted psychological well-being, and the relationship between perceived stress and psychological well-being was moderated by the perceived support from the significant other and the family. Avoidance and emotional-focused coping and seeking social support negatively predicted psychological well-being, while individual problem-focused coping positively predicted psychological well-being, and also reduced the negative relationship between perceived stress and psychological well-being. All sources of the perceived social support were found to correlate positively with emotional-focused coping and seeking social support, while the perceived family support was found to correlate negatively with avoidance. |
