magistrsko delo
V prvem koraku smo z bazično katalizirano reakcijo hidrolize in kondenzacije alkoksidnih prekurzorjev TEOS in APTMS pripravili funkcionalizirane (-NH2) SiO2 nanodelce. V nadaljevanju smo na enak način, vendar s kislinsko katalizirano reakcijo hidrolize in kondenzacije alkoksidnega prekurzorja TEOS v kombinaciji z alkoksidnim prekurzorjem DPTS pripravili tanke funkcionalne (-PO(OR)2) nanose nastalega sola na predhodno aktivirane steklene substrate.
Na sol-gel adsorpcijski material smo vezali terbijeve ione (Tb3+), pri čemer smo ovrednotili pogoje adsorpcije (kontaktni čas, maksimalna adsorpcijska kapaciteta, masa adsorbenta, temperatura adsorpcije), adsorpcijo opisali s klasičnimi adsorpcijskimi izotermami ter ovrednotili kinetiko in termodinamiko adsorpcije. Sol-gel materiale in proces vezave Tb3+ ionov smo v vsaki stopnji karakterizirali z uporabo sodobnih karakterizacijskih tehnik (TEM, FTIR, BET, UV-VIS, TGA, fluorometrija, …).
Rezultati so pokazali učinkovito vezavo (> 94 %) Tb3+ ionov na amino funkcionalizirane SiO2 nanodelce, medtem ko je bila vezava na fosfatno funkcionalizirane SiO2 nanose slabša (~16 %).

Synthesis of the new sol-gel materials for binding rare-earth metals |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The rare earth metals are, due to their unique properties, the essential material for a wide range of applications and industries, although they have a negative impact on the quality of surface and groundwater due to their toxicity, nonbiodegradability and bioaccumulation. Adsorption with usage of variety of natural and synthetically produced materials is currently one of the most efficient, selective, economically and energetically appropriate methods for removal of metal ions from water.
In this master thesis, functionalized SiO2 adsorption materials for the binding and removal of Tb3+ ions from model water were prepared by sol-gel method. In the first step, functionalized (-NH2) SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared with a basically catalysed hydrolysis and condensation of the alkoxide precursors TEOS and APTMS. In the following, the functional (-PO(OR)2) films were prepared with the acid-catalysed hydrolysis and condensation reaction of the TEOS precursor in combination with alkoxide precursor DPTS on pre-activated glass substrates.
Sol-gel adsorption material was used to bind terbium ions (Tb3+), whereby adsorption conditions (contact time, maximum adsorption capacity, mass of the adsorbent, adsorption temperature) were evaluated. Adsorption process was described with conventional adsorption isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamics parameters. Sol-gel materials and binding process of Tb3+ ions were characterized using modern characterization techniques (TEM, FTIR, BET, UV-VIS, TGA, fluorometry…)
The results showed effective binding (> 94 %) of Tb3+ ions to amino functionalized SiO2 nanoparticles, while binding to phosphate-functionalized films was less efficient (~ 16 %). |
