diplomsko delo

Analysis of defenders playing the 5-1 defence in handball |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The diploma work deals with an analysis of defenders playing the 5-1 zone defence in handball. After the 6-0 zone defence, the 5-1 zone is the second most frequently used defence formation, applied by both the highest ranking teams and those competing in lower categories. The 5-1 defence has developed together with a rapid development of handball as a game. In junior categories, the 5-1 defence formation is also used as a transitional defence, i.e. a stepping stone from deep (3-2-1) to shallow (6-0) defences. In the 5-1 zone defence, five players are aligned along the goalkeeper’s zone, with another player – referred to as the front centre – moving at a distance of some 8 or 9 metres. Defenders have different tasks, but in principle, each defender in the 5-1 zone has his or her specific role. When attackers switch to the position of the second pivot, it allows changing the defence into a combined formation, such as 4+2, 5+1 and 3+3 respectively. Playing aggressively, defenders are trying to block the attackers to shoot and pass, which forces them into mistakes or finishing an attack too early. The first part of the diploma describes modern defending by means of the 5-1 defence. The second part focuses on the methodology of teaching the 5-1 defence. To do so, sources on different defence formations were used.
This diploma paper could serve as a tool for both coaches and players and anyone else whose goal is to upgrade their knowledge on the 5-1 defence formation. |
